An Appeal and A Clarification

Dearly beloved in the Lord,

                                                The much awaited MICEU Diamond Jubilee Celebrations is around the corner just 10 days away (6^th Dec, 2011-Tuesday). However, with registrations made so far just reaching 100 as against the target of 450, we were wondering what the matter was!

            Though we coined on 6^th Dec. (Tuesday) as it is a State and Central Government holiday (Muharram), it is a working day for private industries, software companies and even some private colleges. So the solution?!

            May I request you to take a day’s off CL/EL or whatever your eligible leave and please come for the MICEU Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, since this event will have a positive impact on the ministry for years to come. Please avail this leave for the sake of the ministry.

            I also appeal to all those who are yet to register, please do it either online (http://miceudiamondjubilee.blogspot.com/) or by filling up the form. You will be given a registration ID immediately. All those who register will be contacted by the area treasurer or a MDJ committee member and will collect the registration fee.

            One of our early days’ MICEU members (student during 1957) excitedly told me that she had registered already and wanted to know how to pay the registration. It was encouraging! As we met some of the EGF cells, we found that invitations are slowly moving out. However we have also sent an invitation to each family by post. A student leader was asking me, “Uncle what is the objective of the program?” Let me clearly state it once more.

The Objectives:

1. To celebrate God’s faithfulness in past years; to thank him for raising a student witness in city colleges and for spreading graduates to the length and breadth of this country and around the world, as witnesses.

2. To impart the vision and the mission to the present generation of students and young graduates, ‘to ripple’ for years ahead, till the Lord comes.

So, beloved of the Lord, please register immediately and see you on the 6^th at MCC high school, Chetput. Encourage others whom you know, who were part of MICEU/MEGF to register too! We also invite all who were staff (UESI or UESI-TN) at anytime in Madras/Chennai to be our guests.

Message

Dearly beloved in the Lord,

                        Greetings from MICEU, which is 60 years young now,  and a warm welcome to you all. Come and celebrate with us, God’s all sufficiency through the years. Lets pass on the baton, the ministry among post matric students of Madras(Chennai), to our current students and graduates. And hence this MICEU DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATION.

                        That which was a small beginning – 3 students (from Law college, Veterinary college and Ethiraj college) at Prof.Enoch place- grew into Madras ICEU in 1951 (with additional cells in Presidency college, Govt. Arts, MMC, WCC and SMC). To-day (2011) with the mushrooming of colleges in Chennai city to about 340, we have 85 witnessing cells in 31 colleges and in many hostels.

                        60 years have passed by and we have enjoyed the Lord’s faithfulness and graciousness to have witnessing students in this city. We were privileged to be pioneers in UESI with many believing students and graduate leaders. Further with the UESI office at Chennai we have been blessed with a host of staff workers based here as well as those passing through.

                        So now, we MICEU and MEGF members, here at Chennai felt that we should have a time to gather, and praise and bless the Lord for “HITHER TO HAS THE LORD HELPED US”. We will ponder on his word, to get ignited and excited to say HENCE FOR WE WILL LIVE FOR THIS LORD AND CARRY ON THE TESTIMONY. We will gather on 6^th Dec 2011 (Tuesday-Moharam holiday) at MCC School auditorium at 9.30am. Oh! may we weep for joy (Ezra 3 : 11-13) as we praise the Lord. We, present MICEU and MEGF, need to go on even TILL HE COMES and hence the theme “…..the remnant…….take root downward, and bear fruit upward” II Kings 19:30.

                        I beseech you, invite you (if you have been at any time connected with MICEU/MEGF, as a student, a graduate or a staff) to pray for, as also to come, challenged and be blessed. Bro.P.C.Varghese our former UESI staff will bring God’s word to us.

About the Speaker Mr. P C Verghese's

Born in Kerala in a Syrian Christian family in 1937 was converted from 'Christianity' to Christ, while doing Law in the Madras Law College in November 1957 and discipled in the Madras ICEU. In 1959, the Lord called for His full time ministry and after graduation joined the ministry among the University students on 1960, Feb. 1st.. and served through the Union of Evangelical Students of India for 25 years doing pioneering ministry based at Trivandrum, Madurai and Allahabad.. Presently based at Chennai,  as a  minister of the Gospel, involved Teaching and Discipling ministry in India and abroad and also an elder of St. Andrew's church at Egmore, Chennai. Married to Sara and have four daughters and three grandsons.
